May 08 ~ At the ancient hilltop fortress of Bala Hissar (Mountain Fortress). The Afghan National Army has its intel school here...
the two buildings behind me. The broken vehicles are leftovers of Soviet vehicles from the Soviet invasion in the 80's/early 90's. We are advised to walk only on beaten paths and cleared roads up here...many parts of this hilltop have not been cleared of minefields...no wild goose chases up here. To the right you can see remnants of the ancient stone/mud/brick walls that date back to the 1500's. Bala Hissar is on the southeast side of Kabul.
