Dec 08: This is a picture of the last Afghan National Army class our team completed...this is the 'Graduation Day" when they receive their certificates. They always have refreshments after the ceremony...here you can see fruit, cakes, cookies, and the "national drink" here, a kind of tea called "chai"...most of us avoid it...it's safe to drink because it's boiled (as long as the cups are clean), but it's fairly heavily caffeinated. This picture was taken in our newer classroom facility at Bala Hissar...these are prefab buildings set up a couple of years ago by U.S. contractors...probably some of the most modern classrooms in the country...no kidding.
