Dec 08: A street market scene near Bala Hissar...from cattle, sheep, to food, clothing. The water you see in the foreground is actually a canal that fills off of the Kabul River about a 1/4 mile away...it's low in this picture due to drought...and full of all kinds of trash and who-knows-what. As of today, (23 Jan), this canal is quite full from the winter runoff that has again replenished the river flow. The people don't drink this water, of course, but they do water their animals from it and take water from it to wash their cars...yep.
